The Ligier JS2 DFV, a brutal and raw machine was back on the 2015 Tour Auto in its 1975 DFV engined version. Yes, it did not take part in the Tour de France Automobile in period but the previous version, which was at the time powered by Maserati secured a 1-2 finish in the 1974 edition with Gérard Larrousse, Jean-Pierre Nicolas and Johnny Rives taking the win and Bernard Darniche and Jacques Jaubert taking the second slot.
We don’t mind as it is basically the same car but with a different engine, an evolution, the same one that finished second in the 1975 24 Heures du Mans with Jean-Louis Lafosse and Guy Chasseuil. And here it is as campaigned on the 2015 Tour Auto Optic 2000 which started from Paris and ended in Biarritz last week. 2500 km of road, 8 special stages and 4 circuits and in the end, a 3rd place finish. A great story and a fantastic car to see on the road, just imagine the sound of a DFV engined sportscar on the road and what it takes to make it to the finish.
Thanks to the crew, Mr John of B and Sibel for making it to the finish and to Rémi Dargegen for the pictures.
